Restful RV is a small independent site covering power, safety, and monitoring gear for travel trailer owners and for anyone running a CPAP away from a wall outlet. It started from a simple frustration: most gear roundups are written for houses, and quietly assume you have mains power and a home Wi-Fi network. A trailer in a storage lot has neither, and that difference changes which product is actually the right answer.
What we bring to this is years of researching gear properly before spending money on it — reading the full specification sheet instead of the bullet points, hunting down the one-star reviews, and working out which complaints are genuine design flaws and which are somebody who didn’t read the manual. It’s a habit that has made us the ones friends and family call before they buy something, and it’s the same standard behind every guide here. We’re researchers rather than a testing lab, and we’d rather tell you plainly how a recommendation was reached than dress it up.
How we research
Every guide starts with the manufacturer’s published specifications, which we then check against verified customer reviews across retail sites and RV forums — paying particular attention to the complaints, since that’s where the gap between the marketing copy and the real product usually shows up. We evaluate each product against the specific conditions it will face in an RV: metal walls that block Wi-Fi, no shore power, freezing temperatures, and months without anyone checking on it. Where the published specs and real owner reports disagree, we say so in the article rather than quietly siding with the manufacturer. We do not accept payment from brands for placement or for favorable coverage, and we revisit older guides to catch discontinued products and specs that have changed.
A note on how we make money
We do not currently earn a commission on anything we link to. If that changes and we add affiliate links, it will never affect which products we recommend or how we rank them — our picks are made before any link is added, and we have left products in the top spot that pay us nothing.
