Restful RV publishes research-based gear guides for travel trailer owners and CPAP users. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have deliberately kept it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
The short version
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run advertising networks. We do not require an account to read anything on this site. This site does not currently earn any revenue. If we add affiliate links in future, this policy will be updated first, and the section below explains how that would work.
Information you give us directly
- Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address, and website you enter, along with your comment text and IP address. This is standard WordPress behaviour and helps us catch spam.
- Emails. If you contact us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and follow up if the same question comes up again.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our web host records standard access data — IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookies. WordPress sets a cookie if you leave a comment, so the form remembers your details next time. If you never comment, this site sets no cookies of its own.
Affiliate links and Amazon
This site is not currently part of the Amazon Associates programme, and no link on this site is an affiliate link today. If we join in future, some product links would become affiliate links: clicking one would let Amazon place a cookie in your browser so it could attribute a purchase to us and pay a commission, at no extra cost to you. This page will be updated before that happens.
What happens after you click is governed by Amazon, not by us. We never see your name, your address, your payment details, or what you actually bought — we only see anonymous totals of items ordered. If you want to know how Amazon handles your data, read the Amazon Privacy Notice on their site.
Affiliate commissions do not influence our recommendations. Picks are decided before any link is added, and products that pay us nothing appear in top positions throughout the site.
Analytics
This site does not currently run Google Analytics or any third-party analytics service. If that changes we will update this page and say plainly what is being measured.
Who we share information with
Nobody, for money — we do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Your data may be handled by service providers we depend on to run the site: our web host, our email provider, and our backup service. Each only receives what it needs. We may also disclose information if legally required to.
How long we keep things
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically. Emails are kept as long as they are useful for support. Server logs are rotated by our host on their own schedule, typically within a few weeks.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the EU or UK, these rights come from the GDPR; if you are in California, from the CCPA. Write to us using the contact page and we will action it. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying RV and CPAP equipment. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page rather than slipped in quietly.
